Boston from On HighPosted by dYe (Cambridge, United States) on 27 April 2007 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio. At MIT getting your class rings is a big deal. Our rings are called "brass rats" because they are gold and has our mascot, the beaver, on the front. It's one of the most recognizable rings in the world (second to the superbowl rings). Potential employers will see it and know that you graduated from MIT (it means a lot in any science/engineering field). It's an easy but discreet way to tell who's an alumni wherever you go in the world. Therefore, when we get our rings the spring of sophomore year, they always make the event fancy. This year, we had a formal dinner at the State House Building in Boston, overlooking the harbor and part of the city. I took this shot from its windows (it's actually 3 separate pictures, combined with a little help from Photoshop's "photomerge" option).
