The Indomitable TreePosted by dYe (Cambridge, United States) on 20 March 2007 in Plant & Nature. I like this tree because it's so large and intricately shaped. Inside the fence are our soccer and baseball fields, so the area is completely flat except for this tree. I'm glad they didn't decide to remove it.

Craiger from Vacaville, California, United StatesThe background really highlights the trees beauty! Well done! 20 Mar 2007 7:14am @Craiger: Thanks for all your comments Craiger! Manuela Photography from Hainburg (near Frankfurt/Main), GermanySuperb composition, tones and love the softness touch! 20 Mar 2007 9:13am Paige Mills from Columbia, South Carolina, United StatesWOW dYe! Awesome image! I love how the tree just pops out from the snow surrounding it. I'm glad they didn't remove it either...wouldn't have had the same outcome while photographing. 20 Mar 2007 9:52am Alborz from Tehran, IranGood details, contrast & composition dYe, an appealing shot :) 20 Mar 2007 10:04am @Alborz: Thank you! I'm not sure what you mean by saturation processing...I tried changing the saturation in either direction, but since the image is so high contrast and practically monochrome already, it didn't seem to make much of a difference either way. Jerry from Tampa, United StatesI love this one dYe! Excellent image with wonderful tones and that tree is awesome! 20 Mar 2007 10:21am @Jerry: Thanks Jerry! Glad you like it! Henrik from Aarhus, DenmarkI like the dualism in this picture. The tree representing warmth and everlasting (almost) life, and on the opposite side the cold cold snow and plain field symbolising manmade limited lasting changes and urbanization. Actually on my way to work, I drove by a constructionsite where every living thing was teared down, but an enormous tree, which the constructers had decided to leave alone. Perhaps this scenario could do for a picture? 20 Mar 2007 11:08am @Henrik: You've got the sentiment exactly right. The construction site does sound like it would make an interesting shot. Couldn't hurt to try :) Thanks for your comment! Jen from Jessup, United StatesWonderful perspective and composition! Love the tree, I am so glad they left it too, not enough of them around these days!! 20 Mar 2007 11:37am Jacobo from Sevilla, SpainWow, what a peacefult sight. Yes, I like the tree too:) 20 Mar 2007 6:56pm Streetlights from TN, United StatesI think this shot is excellent. The white snow is perfectly exposed, the subjects are very sharp and the artistry in it is amazing. It exactly conveys the fact that it is the only tree left in that area. I also like the soft focus mostly visible around the tree edges. The man walking by helps convey the huge size of that tree. Well done! 21 Mar 2007 5:17am @Streetlights: Thank you! I actually have a confession to make - I imported the man from a different picture to help give an impression of scale. BUT the picture was taken from the same window of a nearby area, so I figure it's not cheating too much. Streetlights from TN, United StatesI don't think that's destructive editing. It is the same as multiple exposure. People do a lot of stuff like that with film by overlaying negatives. So you're not cheating :) 21 Mar 2007 7:12am Vahid from Bø, NorwayI love this one! The tree is really indomitable! Nice shot! 26 Mar 2007 6:23pm |
